Buckerfield’s Return Policy

 

Our Guarantee

Buckerfield’s stands behind all its products. We guarantee our merchandise to be free of manufacturing defects and will accept any defective item for refund or exchange.

 

Our team aims to make returns as smooth as possible. All returns are reviewed at the Store Manager’s discretion to ensure fairness and consistency. This policy outlines typical return and refund scenarios, but all returns are at the discretion of the Store Manager.

 

Some products sold at Buckerfield’s include a manufacturer lifetime warranty, limited warranty, or long-term guarantee. These warranties are provided directly by the product manufacturer. To support our customers, Buckerfield’s will accept returns or exchanges related to manufacturer warranty concerns within our standard 30 day return timeframe from the date of purchase, provided:

  • The item is accompanied by a valid proof of purchase; and
  • The item meets the conditions outlined in our return policy and approved by the Store Manager.

After Buckerfield’s return period has passed, all warranty claims must be submitted directly to the manufacturer in accordance with their terms and conditions. We are always happy to help facilitate or provide contact information for the manufacturer.

In-Store Returns

Most items can be returned within 30 days of purchase and must be in resalable condition. Returns or exchanges on Clothing, Boots, Shoes, Apparel, Jewelry and Giftware must be in like-new condition, free from any external debris, wear marks, or stains, and must be unwashed and in unworn condition with tags or sticker prices still attached. Damaged or used items do not qualify for a refund and/or in-store credit.

 

With a Receipt

Items returned that are accompanied by a receipt will be refunded at the original purchase price, to the original payment method, plus applicable sales taxes.

  • Refunds will only apply if they fall within 30 days of original receipt and sales date.
  • Purchases made prior to Dec. 8, 2025, will be refunded to a Buckerfield’s gift card regardless of original payment method.

Without a Receipt

Items returned without a receipt will be processed at the lowest sale price within the last 90 days, plus applicable sales tax. Such items may be exchanged for the same product or returned for merchandise credit in the form of a Buckerfield’s gift card, which cannot be traded for cash.

 

Customer must provide their name and contact details at the time of returning items without a receipt unless the customer is already registered with us electronically.

  • Don’t want to keep paper receipts? Register with us and we’ll keep your future receipts electronically for easy returns and exchanges. Please ask your cashier to sign up.

Perennials, Tree and Shrub Guarantee

Outdoor plants may be returned, with the receipt, for a store credit within six months of purchase. Indoor plants and non-plant items may be returned, with the receipt, for a store credit within 30 days of purchase. Unused non-plant items returned within 30 days, with the receipt, will receive a refund. We do not cover plants destroyed by neglect, insects, animals, mechanical machinery, power tools or accidental damage. Refunds for the purchase amount will be issued upon the return of the plant to our Garden Centres for inspection by a Senior Garden Associates and/or Store Manager. Annuals are not covered under this guarantee, but please see details on our Green Thumb Guarantee below (applies to plants only).

Final Sale Items

The following are final sale items which cannot be returned or exchanged:

  • Gift Cards
  • Animal traps
  • Sale items discounted by 40% off or more
  • Items which may not be returned due to hygiene, health, and safety reasons

Guidelines & Restrictions

Our standard return policy does not apply to the following items and therefore may not be returned or exchanged:

  • Refrigerated items, including frozen consumables
  • Live animals
  • Any items cut to length at a customer's request and/or bulk items
  • Gift Cards
  • Food products for human consumption
  • Open packages of plant seeds
  • Open or used packages of herbicide, pesticide, or rodenticide, unless the return is due to manufacturer’s defect such as sprayer malfunction
  • Sprayers that have been used with chemicals, unless the return is due to manufacturer’s defect, in which case chemicals must be cleaned out thoroughly with water before returning so that we can test.

What Are Resalable Items?

Returns or exchanges that are resalable must be:

  • Clean
  • Unwashed
  • Unworn
  • Undamaged; and
  • Have the original tags or sticker prices still attached

Buckerfield’s Green Thumb Guarantee

We guarantee that our plants are healthy and properly identified. Healthy plants will establish with proper planting and care. If your recently purchased plant is not thriving, please contact us immediately so we can diagnose the problem and offer solutions. Success in your garden with our Green Thumb Guarantee applies to:

  • Trees, Shrubs, Perennials, Vines and Roses (Annuals are not covered)
  • Non-flowering tropical indoor plants
  • Hardy water plants
  • Ornamental grasses
  • Small fruits and berry bushes

Outdoor plants may be returned within 30 days of purchase. These items may be refunded in the original form of payment, exchanged, or returned for a Store Credit in the form of a Buckerfield’s gift card. After 30 days and up to six months, we will gladly replace the plant or offer a Store Credit up to the original purchase price of the plant.

Plants, shrubs and trees discounted by 40% or more are not covered by the Green Thumb Guarantee. Our guarantee does not apply under conditions of extreme weather (e.g. heat wave, prolonged drought, heavy snow, cold snap). In no case are we responsible for more than the purchase price or consequential damage due to plant failure.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please remember when purchasing any product from Buckerfield’s to either keep your receipt or sign up with a cashier with your contact information for ease of returns or exchanging an item within the specified timeline, product condition dependant.
