Buckerfield’s is seeking to hire a skilled and motivated professional to join our organization as a Payroll and Benefits Administrator at our Head Office location in Duncan, BC. This role is ideally suited for a dedicated and detail-oriented individual who wants to expand their expertise and advance their career within Human Resources.
Position Overview:
As a full-time Payroll and Benefits Administrator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll, maintaining employee records, administering employee benefits programs, and addressing employee inquiries. You will collaborate closely with HR and the finance team to ensure compliance with all relevant government regulations and company policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time for all employees
- Maintain payroll records ensuring data integrity and the confidentiality of employee files in the payroll system
- Calculate and process payroll deductions, including taxes, benefits, and garnishments
- Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance benefits and RRSP’s
- Act as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries regarding payroll and benefits
- Assist in the development and implementation of payroll and benefits policies and procedures
- Ensure compliance with federal and provincial regulations governing payroll and benefits administration
- Collaborate with HR and the finance team to reconcile payroll and benefits accounts and resolve discrepancies
- Generate payroll reports and provide analysis as needed
- Processing T4 Forms and other required tax forms
- Preparing and remitting source deductions and payroll tax
Qualifications:
- Strong foundation and understanding of payroll and benefits regulations and principles, along with a willingness to learn and grow within the role
- A minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience is preferred (a combination of academic training and practical experience will be considered)
- Proven experience in payroll administration, preferably in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in payroll software and MS Office, particularly Excel
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently, as part of a team and take initiative
- Certification in payroll administration (e.g., PCP) is beneficial
- Able to meet time sensitive deadlines
Skills:
- High degree of accuracy in preparing and entering financial and payroll information
- Attention to detail, excellent organizational and analytical skills
- Proficient with MS Word and Excel
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Availability: 40 hours a week, minimum
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $53,000 - $55,000 per year
